TSA preparing for its 10th year!

Golf Academy celebrates 10 years!

The Sports Academy enters its 10th year

TSA reaches milestone of 50 golf professionals

The Sports Academy (TSA) is celebrating the start of its 10th year with its 50th Student turning professional, and is all set to welcome a new batch of budding future golf champions through its doors.

Set up in 2003, TSA was the first programme of its kind, designed to harness the potential of future professional golfers within a structured environment combining post-16 education and tailored golf coaching. Since its inception, TSA has supported 50 students to becoming professional players, or working within the golf industry.

Barry Lakin, Director of TSA says “TSA understands that the traditional academic environment is not one in which every student will thrive, and is passionate about providing alternatives that complement the intensive preparation that young golfers need in order to succeed at the highest level”.

As the summer approaches and many students will be considering their options, following GSCE exams over the summer. Lakin continues “Its that time of year where students are starting to consider their futures. It can be a daunting time for both students and parents when thinking about their options and finding the right environment to support development and further education”.

Lakin, believes passionately that offering alternatives to traditional academic environments provides the opportunity for talented young golfers to continue with the achievement of all important post-16 qualifications, whilst equipping them for future golfing careers. With its 50th student turning professional, and future expansion of similar academy programmes partnered with TSA, there is certainly strong evidence of the power of such programmes within UK golf development. Indeed, Gavin Samuels, a former student of TSA played as part of the European tour in Sweden recently and, amongst other students is chasing success on professional tours.

Lakin explained “At TSA, we offer a unique Golf Coaching Programme, combining continuing education with golf development. We believe in the importance of providing a structured environment that allows students to continue their learning post-16; at the same time harnessing proven expertise to enable students to excel in the golfing arena.”
